The Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC), Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), under the leadership of Prof. Rashidah Funke Olanrewaju, is currently hosting the 2026 NSUK EDC Master Trainers’ Academy alongside the North Central EDC Leadership Summit, a three-day capacity-building programme taking place from 27th to 29th July, 2026. The programme has brought together Entrepreneurship Development Centre Directors, entrepreneurship lecturers, facilitators, and stakeholders from universities across the North Central region to strengthen entrepreneurship education, encourage institutional collaboration, and promote sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystems. Day One Highlights The programme commenced on Monday, 27th July, 2026, with the NSUK EDC Master Trainers’ Academy, a one-day Training of Trainers programme for lecturers and facilitators responsible for teaching Entrepreneurship (ENTC) courses. The training is being facilitated by distinguished resource persons from the Federal University of Technology, Minna: Mr. Abubakar A. Musa, Head of Training, Entrepreneurship Centre. Dr. Agatha Oseghale, Entrepreneurship Education Specialist. The sessions are focused on the ICSS Modular Courses Approach, providing participants with practical teaching strategies and modern tools for entrepreneurship education. Key areas covered include: Business Model Canvas (BMC) facilitation and development Developing business plans from business models ICSS Modular Courses SME Sabi Online Platform Basic Financial Literacy Certification Practical group exercises and interactive learning sessions The training is designed to enhance the capacity of entrepreneurship lecturers to deliver practical, industry-relevant entrepreneurship education that equips students with entrepreneurial competencies and enterprise development skills. The programme schedule includes orientation, Business Model Canvas development, business plan preparation, SME Sabi platform training, financial literacy certification, reflection sessions, and closing activities. Day Two Activities Today, Tuesday, 28th July, 2026, the programme continues with the North Central EDC Leadership Summit 2026, themed: “Uniting Leaders. Sharing Excellence. Building Sustainable Entrepreneurial Ecosystems.” The summit has assembled Directors of Entrepreneurship Development Centres and key stakeholders from across the North Central region to exchange ideas, showcase best practices, and explore strategies for advancing entrepreneurship development within tertiary institutions. The day’s activities include keynote presentations, experience sharing sessions, updates on entrepreneurship opportunities, discussions on Artificial Intelligence for EDC leadership, collaboration and partnership forums, and strategic engagements aimed at strengthening entrepreneurship ecosystems. One of the major highlights of today’s programme was a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Prof. Saadatu Hassan Liman. The participants were warmly received by the Vice-Chancellor, who commended the efforts of the Entrepreneurship Development Centre in promoting innovation, enterprise development, and entrepreneurial capacity building across the region. The visit provided an opportunity for participants to appreciate the University’s commitment to entrepreneurship education while discussing the importance of collaboration among institutions in driving innovation and economic development. Looking Ahead The programme will conclude on Wednesday, 29th July, 2026, with further strategic engagements, networking opportunities, collaborative discussions, and the adoption of resolutions that will strengthen partnerships among Entrepreneurship Development Centres within the North Central zone. As the programme continues, participants remain committed to sharing knowledge, building institutional partnerships, and developing innovative approaches that will enhance entrepreneurship education and contribute to sustainable economic growth.
