EDC NSUK Leadership Oversees Rice Processing at Keffi Rice Milling Factory

The Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC), Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), under the leadership of the Director, Prof. Rashidah Funke Olanrewaju, and her Deputy Director, Dr. Aminu Muallimu Kambari, recently paid a visit to a rice milling factory located in Keffi along the Nasarawa–Toto Road. The visit was to oversee the processing of rice harvested by the Centre a few weeks earlier as part of its agricultural entrepreneurship initiative. The rice processing exercise began with the active involvement of local women, who carried out the initial manual stages of the operation. This approach not only ensured quality control at the early stage but also promoted community participation and women’s empowerment. After the preliminary processing, modern milling machines were used to dehusk the rice and remove stones and other impurities, ensuring a clean and market-ready product. The visit highlights the EDC’s commitment to practical entrepreneurship training, value addition, and community engagement. By integrating local expertise with modern processing techniques, the Centre continues to demonstrate its role in promoting sustainable agribusiness development and skill acquisition among students and members of the host community.
