Dr. Taibat Ibrahim
Deputy Director
Dr. Taibat Ibrahim is a distinguished academic and researcher with over eight years of teaching and research experience at Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK). She holds a PhD in Medical Microbiology from NSUK and an MSc and BSc from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Nigeria. Her expertise lies in Medical Microbiology, with a specific focus on antimicrobial resistance and its implications for public health.
Academic and Research Contributions Dr. Ibrahim’s research primarily addresses antimicrobial resistance in enteric pathogens, including Salmonella Typhi, Salmonella Typhimurium, and Escherichia coli from clinical and environmental sources. Her work advances global public health efforts by improving understanding of microbial behaviors in diverse environments. Beyond this, her research interests span:
One Health: Promoting integrated solutions to health threats through the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health.
Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH): Leading a TETFund-sponsored project on eco-friendly water filtration systems to enhance access to clean water and prevent diseases in developing regions.
Substance Abuse: Investigating the microbiological and societal impacts of drug and substance abuse among NSUK students.
Gender Studies: Exploring gender-related issues in the main stream media.
Administrative and Leadership Roles Dr. Ibrahim has excelled in key administrative roles, including Examination Officer, Level Coordinator, and Coordinator of the part-time programme in Science Laboratory Technology Department. Currently, she serves as:
Deputy Director of Innovations and Incubation at NSUK’s Entrepreneurial Development Centre (EDC): Facilitating innovation, entrepreneurship, and industry-academia collaboration.
Coordinator for Research and Innovation at the Directorate of Research, Innovation, and Enterprise: Driving NSUK’s research agenda and fostering a culture of innovation.
Implementation of NITDA’s Digital Literacy Program: Her team was instrumental in implementing NITDA’s digital literacy initiative for NSUK students in 2024, enhancing their technological competencies and readiness for the digital age.
Public Engagement and Knowledge Sharing Dr. Ibrahim is a passionate communicator. She actively engages in public speaking at conferences, workshops, and seminars, inspiring students and colleagues while addressing real-world challenges.
